How to Beat Zoh Shia in MH Wilds: Low Rank Final Boss

Zoh Shia's Dragon weakness and breakable parts, the one-time Low Rank story fight, and the repeatable High Rank hunt added in Title Update 1.

Zoh Shia is the culmination of Monster Hunter Wilds — a towering final boss that closes the Low Rank campaign in Chapter 3’s “Monster Hunter” mission, the last fight before the credits and your shift into High Rank.

The story fight vs the repeatable hunt

Zoh Shia appears two ways in Wilds, and the difference matters. The Low Rank story fight in Chapter 3-5 (“Monster Hunter”) is a one-time scripted climax with no monster-part drops — bring your best gear and consumables, because you only get one attempt at it. After the credits, Title Update 1 (April 2025) added a repeatable High Rank Zoh Shia Assignment that unlocks at HR 50 and drops its own materials for a dedicated armor and weapon set. So in the endgame Zoh Shia is a real farming target, not just a story boss. If you are still in the story, treat the LR fight as your one shot; if you are HR 50 or above, check the Assignment list for the repeatable hunt.

Weaknesses and parts

  • Best element: Dragon (Dragon Ammo, Dragon Pod, Dragon Attack, Critical Element, Charge Master).
  • Zoh Shia has no weak point in the usual sense, but its Head, Wings (x2), and Forelegs (x2) can be broken and its Tail can be severed.
  • It resists Exhaust, Flash Pods, Sonic Bombs, Shock Traps, and Pitfall Traps — none of those crowd-control tools work, so do not waste inventory slots on them.

Preparation

Because it is a main-mission fight fitted to your rank at that moment, the real prep is defensive: eat before departing (the portable BBQ works), carry regular and Mega Potions (grab honey if short), and invest in defense by upgrading your current armor rather than hunting new sets. Dragon Pods are worthwhile if you have a ranged weapon with Dragon Ammo.

After Zoh Shia

Clearing it rolls the credits and opens High Rank, where the real endgame begins — Arkveld at HR 40, Tempered investigations, and Artian weapons. If you are mapping out that grind, the HR unlock guide and the weakness chart are the next reads. For the fight itself, lead with Dragon and break what you can.
