Space Marine 2 Executions and Gun Strikes: Armour Refill
Why executions and Gun Strikes are the real healing engine in Space Marine 2, how they restore armour, and how to use them without getting surrounded.
Executions restore a segment and grant i-frames
When a Majoris or larger enemy is low on health it starts flashing red, which means it is ready to be executed. Walk up and trigger the finisher and you get three things at once: one armour segment restored, any contested health still on the bar recovered, and a stretch of invincibility frames while the animation plays. You are untouchable during the execution, so incoming fire simply whiffs. The catch is position — the animation can leave you surrounded when it ends, so take the execution when the area is safe enough, then move, parry or dodge immediately.
Gun Strike restores a segment too
After a perfect parry or a perfect dodge, a red marker appears over the enemy. Fire your ranged or secondary attack without aiming to trigger the Gun Strike. It kills or staggers the target and restores one armour segment. The Gun Strike is not a bonus — it is your resource economy. A class that cannot parry reliably is a class that runs on Stimms it does not have.
What executions do NOT do
An execution does not heal ordinary missing health. It rebuilds armour and recovers contested health, which prevents the next hit from going straight into your health bar, but it will not top you up if your health is already damaged. That is what Stimms are for.
The recovery order under pressure
When a fight goes bad, do not treat every glowing prompt as a free heal. Use this order: parry or dodge the attack that will hit you next; take a safe execution if it restores armour without trapping you; deal damage quickly if contested health is still visible; only then use a Stimm if another down is likely. Read armour segments and regen for the segment math and contested health for the recovery window. The Mortal Wound page covers what happens once health actually fails.
