Space Marine 2 Mortal Wounds and Medicae Stimms

How Mortal Wounds work in Space Marine 2, how Medicae Stimms heal and clear wounds, and why Guardian Relics matter on the hardest difficulties.

What a Mortal Wound is

When your health bar empties you are incapacitated. After that incapacitation you can carry a Mortal Wound, and if you are incapacitated again while still wounded, you die and must wait for respawn unless a valid effect removes or prevents the wound. The threshold for receiving a wound depends on difficulty: in the campaign, Easy never inflicts one, Normal and Veteran give a wound after two downs, and Angel of Death after a single down. In Operations the wound rules follow the same “down twice and the next down kills” logic unless cleared.

Clearing the wound

The clean way to clear a Mortal Wound is to heal to full health. A Medicae Stimm can do this, but only if the heal actually reaches full — do not assume one Stimm always clears the wound if it leaves any health missing. So the habit is: spend the Stimm early enough that it tops you off completely, not when you are already at one hit from death.

Medicae Stimms

You can carry up to two Stimms at a time. Using one heals roughly half your total health near-instantly after a short animation. Their exact healing can shift by Operations difficulty, so treat them as an emergency tool for a real danger point rather than a fixed-number potion. The important part is reaching full health to clear the wound.

Guardian Relics

A Guardian Relic grants a self-revive, which can turn a lethal down into a second chance. They are useful, but they do not make health, armour or Mortal Wounds safe to ignore — on Angel of Death they are make-or-break, not a safety net. For the layer that protects you before health is ever at risk, read armour segments and regen and executions as your armour refill. The contested health page explains the recoverable sliver of health you should fight to keep.
