Space Marine 2 Tzaangors: The Add Spam Problem
Tzaangors are not dangerous individually and lethal in a crowd. Why they exist and the cheapest way to stop them.
What they are for
Tzaangors exist to occupy you. They are fast, numerous, and individually trivial, which means the threat is the time they cost rather than the damage they deal. Every second you spend on a Tzaangor is a second a Rubric Marine spends shooting you.
Melee is the efficient answer
Shooting Tzaangors is a waste of ammunition and a waste of the seconds you need for the real targets. Melee clears them quickly and generates contested health through executions. That last part matters: executions on Tzaangors are the main healing source in Thousand Sons missions.
Do not chase
They circle, retreat, and come back. Chasing them across the arena is exactly the behaviour they are designed to produce. Hold ground, let them come, and kill what closes. The ones that run away will return, and they will return to the same place.
Prioritising correctly
If a Tzaangor and a Rubric Marine are both in front of you, the Rubric Marine is the threat. The Tzaangor will hit you once for little damage; the Rubric Marine will shoot you from across the room. That priority holds until a Tzaangor is about to interrupt an execution or a revive, which is the one moment it becomes urgent.
The Shaman problem
Some Tzaangor groups include empowered variants that buff the rest. Those change the priority: the buffed group is significantly more dangerous than a normal one. Identify the source of the buff before committing to a grinding fight.
Ammunition economy
The reason Tzaangors matter in Operations is the ammunition counter. A mission full of them is a mission where you will run dry if you shoot every one. Treat them as a melee problem and keep the bolter for armour.
Deny the angles, not the bodies
Against a swarm, the position matters more than the kill count. A doorway, a corner, or a raised platform removes half the angles Tzaangors can use, which turns a surround into a queue. Fighting them in the open is how a trivial enemy becomes a wipe.
