Destiny 2 Le Monarque: Void Bow Poison Guide
Le Monarque poisons targets with precision hits and creates poison clouds. Here is how to buy it and why it still holds up
Le Monarque is an exotic Void combat bow. Precision hits create a poison explosion that leaves a lingering cloud. Enemies standing in the cloud take damage over time, and the poison spreads to anything that walks through it. It also stuns Overload Champions innately.
Where to buy it
Le Monarque was a Forsaken reward and is now sold at the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower, under the Forsaken tab. The cost is:
- 1 Exotic Cipher
- 125,000 Glimmer
- 200 Legendary Shards
- 1 Ascendant Shard
Ciphers come from Xur’s Xenology quest, so start that before you plan the purchase.
How to play Le Monarque
Shoot the ground at a chokepoint, not the enemy. The poison cloud does the work. In PvE, one arrow can deny a lane for several seconds. In PvP, the cloud blocks revives and flushes campers out of cover. Fully drawn arrows travel farther and hit harder. The cloud also staggers groups that try to push through it, which buys your team time.
Why the cloud is the weapon
One arrow becomes sustained area damage that keeps ticking while you do something else — reload, reposition, swap to a heavy. That is the actual trade: you give up burst damage and get damage that does not need your attention.
It also changes the aiming problem. You are placing a zone on the floor where an enemy will walk, not leading a target, so the shot that matters is the one aimed at their feet a second early. Bodies are the wrong target for the same reason: a cloud centred on a corpse is already behind the push.
The innate Overload stun is the other half. In Nightfalls the bow’s job is to keep a champion locked down and regenerating nothing while your team kills it — so re-apply on the champion rather than spreading arrows across the room.
The Le Monarque catalyst
The Le Monarque catalyst drops from playlist activities and needs bow kills to complete. It improves the poison and reload handling, which keeps the weapon competitive in high-level content. The catalyst guide lists the step order.
FAQ
Is Le Monarque free to play? Yes. The Monument no longer requires the Forsaken Pack to buy it.
Is it good in PvP? Yes, for area denial and controlling revive ranges.
Does poison stack? Multiple clouds overlap and stack their damage, so a boss that stands still eats several at once.
When does it fall off? Against fast single targets with nothing behind them. A hunter who breaks line of sight leaves you with a cloud on empty floor, and a scout rifle wins that exchange.
