Destiny 2 Pathfinder: Tracks, Pinnacles, and Weekly Order
Pathfinder tracks turn normal Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit play into Pinnacle rewards. How the paths, repeat rules, and bonuses work
Pathfinder is the reward-track system that replaced the old playlist grind. It runs on Vanguard Ops, Crucible, and Gambit, and it is the cleanest way to turn normal play into Pinnacle gear. Each season ships a full set of paths, and they are repeatable.
How paths work
A path is a list of objectives inside one playlist. Finish the objectives and the path pays out. Every path ends with a Pinnacle reward, which is the gear that pushes you toward the current cap. There are 14 paths in a season, and you can see all of them from the Pathfinder menu.
Most objectives overlap with what you would do anyway. Killing a boss type, landing final blows with a weapon class, or completing matches all count. Bonus-progress objectives stack when you run the right activity, so read the list before you queue.
Repeat rules
Paths are repeatable, but the rewards shrink. After you run the same path several times in a week, later completions pay less. Spread across paths instead of grinding one, and claim the Pinnacle at the end of each path on the first clear.
Some paths also end with a Bright Dust node. If you are short on cosmetics, finish those before the season rolls over.
A weekly plan
- Open the Pathfinder menu and note which objectives share activities.
- Queue the playlist that clears the most objectives at once.
- Claim the end-of-path reward on every path you finish.
- Rotate to a different path instead of repeating a finished one.
Pathfinder mistakes, from depleted paths to Pinnacles
- Re-running a depleted path instead of starting a new one.
- Forgetting the end-of-path Pinnacle until the season ends.
- Ignoring bonus-progress objectives that double up with seasonal challenges.
Pacing a path across the week
The mistake is treating Pathfinder as a weekend project. Its objectives overlap with the chores you already do — strikes, Gambit matches, Crucible — so the efficient run is to pick the path whose objectives sit inside the playlist you were queuing anyway and let it complete in the background. Three paths running at once finish faster than one path ground deliberately. Save the deliberate grind for the last day before reset, when you can see exactly which objectives are still short. The weekly reset guide has the order, and power leveling explains what those Pinnacles are for.
