Destiny 2 Project Sunrise: quests and lore lookup

Hunting for 'Project Sunrise' in Destiny 2? Here is how quests rotate, where old lore survives, and how to verify any name in-game.

You saw Project Sunrise in a video title or a clan message, and now nothing in the game matches the name. Before you assume the content is gone, work through where Destiny 2 keeps its quests and story entries. The game is unusually good at hiding its own history across menus that were never designed as archives.

Open the Quests tab first

Active pursuits and seasonal quests live there, along with long exotic chains. If something is running for you this week, it is in that list. The tab also tracks step-by-step progress, so a half-finished quest is easy to spot. If it is not there, the quest is either finished or never started.

Seasonal content is the usual culprit

Each season rotates its activities and quests, and old ones close when the season ends. Triumphs from finished content usually stay visible, so search the Triumphs panel for anything with a similar name. Our triumph seals guide explains what those entries track.

If the name came from lore

Project-style names show up in lore far more often than in menus. Destiny 2 keeps its story entries in in-game lore books, and Ishtar Collective archives every book with searchable text.

Search the exact phrase there before you conclude it never existed. Code names and internal project titles are a staple of Destiny 2’s writing. A phrase that reads like a lab project often comes from a lore tab rather than a menu.

If it turns out to be an activity or item

Some project-style names belong to activities rather than quests. Distortions, Arena Ops playlists, and Pantheon encounters all have their own names, and none of them appear in the quest log. Check the Navigator’s activity list, then match the name against the Collections and Triumphs entries described above.

Check the official notes

Bungie’s update archive documents every content change, including renames and removals. Searching the notes for the exact phrase usually settles whether something was ever live. If the quest you want is part of the main story, our campaign order guide lists the sequence.
