Destiny 2 Triumph Seals and Titles: How Gilding Works
Skip the months of wasted grind: learn which Destiny 2 Triumph seals are still completable in 2026, how gilding caps work, and which to chase first.
Triumph seals are the long tail of Destiny 2 progression. They turn weeks of play into a permanent badge under your name. Understanding how seals work saves you from grinding the wrong content for months.
What a seal is
A seal is a set of Triumphs inside one category. Complete every Triumph in the set and the seal completes. Each completed seal grants a title, and titles are account-wide. You track all of it in the Triumphs tab.
The 2026 prestige chase is the Immortal title. It spans raids, dungeons, PvP, Distortions, and Monument activities. Finishing it unlocks the Immortal ornament set at the Tenet of Death.
How gilding works
Most titles can be gilded. Gilding means repeating the seal’s core requirements after you earn the title. Each repeat adds a gold band. There is a cap on how many times a given title can be gilded, and the caps vary a lot. Decide which title you actually want before you start.
Seals tied to retired seasonal content can stay incomplete for new accounts. If a required activity no longer runs, that Triumph cannot be earned and the seal never finishes. Read the requirements in the Triumphs tab before you commit.
Which seals are realistic
Start with seals whose content still runs every week. Raid seals, dungeon seals, and the Crucible seal all have permanent activities behind them. Iron Banner and Trials run on schedules, so those seals are slower but still doable.
Avoid Flawless titles as your first goal. A flawless run means no deaths across an entire raid or dungeon. That is a skill check on top of a gear check, and it punishes every small mistake. Get the base seals first, then chase flawless when your team is consistent.
A sane order
- Pick one activity you already enjoy.
- Open its seal in the Triumphs tab and read every requirement.
- Farm the missing pieces weekly instead of bingeing.
- Cash the seal in, then decide whether to gild or move on.
Triumph seal mistakes, from retired content to gilds
- Grinding a seal whose content is retired.
- Chasing gilds on a title you do not care about.
- Assuming a title takes one run. Most take weeks of weekly completions.
