Destiny 2 Graviton Lance: Void Pulse Rifle Guide
Graviton Lance fires two-round bursts that spawn tracking Void projectiles on kills. Here is how to get it and how the Cosmology perk works
Graviton Lance is an exotic Void pulse rifle that fires a two-round burst. The second shot rips a hole in space and deals bonus damage with no damage falloff. Its real strength is Cosmology: kills make enemies detonate and spawn Void projectiles that track new targets.
How to get Graviton Lance
Graviton Lance was the reward for the “Sacrilege” story mission during The Red War. That mission is gone, so the weapon now comes from:
- PvE and PvP world drops
- Exotic Engrams
- Xur’s weekly exotic pool in the Tower
If you are hunting it, run any activity with a fated engram in your pocket and turn in excess loot at the Tower.
How the two-round burst actually works
Three things follow from the design, and all three change how you aim.
The first round is an ordinary pulse shot. The second is the one with no falloff, so a burst where the second round lands is worth far more than one where only the first does. That makes burst timing the skill to practise rather than trigger discipline: keep the trigger held through a strafe and the second round stays on target, tap it and it does not.
Cosmology triggers on a kill, not on damage. A body-shot kill still detonates, so in dense adds you do not need precision to start the chain. Precision is for whatever survives the first burst.
The spawned projectiles seek new targets by themselves, which means the chain feeds itself. That is the reason the weapon scales with enemy density and feels flat against a single boss — the perk has nothing to jump to.
How to play Graviton Lance
Aim for precision hits. The Black Hole trait rewards clean bursts, and the Void explosions clear packed groups. In Void builds with Weaken or Volatile uptime, the explosions chain through waves of minor enemies, and the Monument of Triumph primary buff made the weapon much stronger against minor combatants. Hold mid-range lanes where the second round still connects; that is the band where the no-falloff shot does its work. The Light subclass notes cover which fragments spread those effects.
The Graviton Lance catalyst
The catalyst raises range by 18 and adds aim assistance with the Hidden Hand perk. It drops randomly from strikes and Crucible matches, then needs 500 kills with the weapon plus 1,000 Cosmology explosion kills. The catalyst guide has the completion order.
FAQ
Is Graviton Lance good in PvP? The burst can two-tap at certain ranges, but the recoil pattern takes practice.
What is the best range? Mid-range. The second shot has no falloff, so hold lanes instead of pushing.
Does it need the catalyst? No, but the extra range and aim assist widen the band where both rounds land.
