STALKER 2 Artifact Hunting: Routes Beat Luck

Emissions reshuffle the fields, so the artifacts move. How to build a farming route, what to carry, and why a cleared field is not a finished field.

The reshuffle

An emission is not only a hazard event. It redistributes what is in the Zone, which means fields you have already stripped can produce again. That single mechanic is what makes artifact hunting a repeatable route rather than a one-time sweep. The implication: after an emission, your old route is worth re-running. The emission page covers how to survive one, which is the prerequisite for benefiting from one.

Building a route

Pick three or four fields near a settlement. Proximity to a safe point is what makes the route repeatable, because it lets you dump loot and go back out. Learn the anomaly type in each. A field of static anomalies can be crossed quickly; a field with moving or triggered anomalies needs bolts and patience. The anomaly types page is the reference. Mark them on the PDA. A field you cannot find again is a field you visited once. The PDA page covers the marker system. Run the route in the same order every time. Optimisation comes from repetition, and repetition is only possible if the route is fixed.

What to carry

A detector (better tiers find more), bolts, anti-radiation drugs, and minimal combat weight. An artifact run is a movement run: you want speed and stamina, not a second rifle. That is a deliberate trade — you are choosing to be weak in a fight in exchange for being able to leave one. The weight page explains why carry capacity is the stat that makes this work.

What is worth taking

Two rules. Radiation-emitting artifacts are only worth it if you are also carrying something that clears radiation, or if the effect is strong enough to justify the drug cost. Everything else is judged by what it does for your build, not by its rarity label. Artifacts you cannot use should be sold, and the coupons page explains why the money is genuinely useful rather than a number that sits there.

The risk profile

Artifact fields are contested. Humans know where they are and mutants live in them, so a field run is also a PvE and PvP encounter. The stealth page covers approaching quietly, and the honest advice is to run fields you have already cleared once — the second visit is when you know where the danger is rather than discovering it.
