Best Weapons in Black Ops 7 (Season 6) — What to Use and Why
The Season 6 weapon meta in Black Ops 7 explained by role, not just tier — every class's top pick with real TTK, velocity and ADS, and how to choose.
“Best weapon” in Black Ops 7 is never one gun — it is the gun that fits the distances you actually win fights at, on the map you are playing, in the mode you are in. This page is the map. Every number below is from the live Season 6 Multiplayer snapshot (CODMunity weekly meta, checked 2026-10-19, cross-checked with The Click’s October 3 tier data and MetaRadar). TTK is time-to-kill against 150 HP with no attachments; velocity is m/s; ADS is aim-down-sight time in ms. For the deep dive on any class, follow the links — each class has its own page with full TTK tables and builds.
Read this before you pick
Three things decide your gun more than its tier:
- Engagement distance. Indoor objective map? SMG or shotgun. Long lanes? AR or marksman. Open sightlines? Sniper or LMG.
- Mode. Ranked Play uses a restricted weapon and attachment pool, and Warzone adds armour and longer ranges with separate balance values. A Multiplayer build is not a Ranked or Warzone build.
- Your consistency. The rifle or SMG you can reliably hit with beats the one with the better stat line on paper.

Choose by scenario
- Small map, fast rotations (Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed): VMP or Kogot-7 SMG, CODA 9 as backup.
- Mixed mid lanes: EGRT-17 AR or Swordfish A1 marksman.
- Long sightlines / holding a hill: FG42 AR, Hawker HX sniper, or Mammoth LMG for suppression.
- Breaching rooms: M10 Breacher or Echo 12 shotgun.
- Ranked Play: check the Ranked weapon rules — M15 Mod 0 is the leading Ranked AR even though EGRT-17 tops open Multiplayer.
The build logic that applies to every class
Whatever you pick, the same three-step priority holds: stabilise first, then mobility, then range — and never stack parts that fight each other. Our attachment philosophy guide explains the three universal best-in-slot parts and how to tune them per role, and your loadout slots show where the five attachment points plus perks and wildcards go. The full weapon list is the complete class-by-class arsenal if you want to see everything before committing.
One honest caveat
This is the Season 6 Multiplayer state as of mid-October 2026. Treyarch tunes the AR and SMG classes through the season, and a single patch can flip the ladder — FG42’s 193 ms TTK and VMP’s Battle Pass unlock are this season’s facts, not permanent ones. Treat the numbers as a starting point, verify against the live meta before a tournament grind, and remember the gun you hit with is the best gun for you.
